Europe on $100 for a Hamburger and Drink?

Our recent trip to Europe, May 2008, began with a cruise on the beautiful Crystal Symnphony from Athens to Lisbon.  We had been to Athens a couple of times before but the history it offers always makes me think of Biblical days when Paul preached.  The city is a combination of post 2004 Summer Olympics with their modern buildings of shops and restaurants and their well-run mass transit system to ancient ruins of the Acropolis sitting high above the city and other areas where ancient buildings dot the landscape. Italy with Best Friends – September / October 2007

When you think of touring around Italy for two weeks, by train and by car I would imagine you would have to think twice about whom you want to spend that much time with.  I mean we are talking spending every waking moment with them so you would have to be selective.  We’ll we have the kind of friends who are easy to be with, never complaining, except maybe when we spent too long reading another description of a Renaissance masterpiece or deciding just one more museum. King Pacific Lodge:

WOW I yelled, as I looked down at the Great Bear Rainforest from my lodge window.

Not that any of the other seven passengers could hear me over the engines of the pre World War II float plane.  The largest temperate rainforest left on earth with its pristine beauty of unspoiled lakes and untouched trees as far as I could see, it was just overwhelming. Read More...


My Hawaii:

Hawaii has always been a favorite destination for our family.  I remember my first trip to Oahu, just after my 16th birthday.  As we traveled by “jet” plane over the Pacific we listened to the pilot with excitement as he reported that the US had just landed on the moon.  That was 1969 and this is 2009.
