My Favorite Vacations:
Rome and the Amalfi coast:
The grandeur of Rome and the beauty of the drive down the Amalfi coast in springtime not to mention a trip to Pompeii.
Amsterdam and Paris:
Wander the picture postcard canals and museums of Amsterdam and then hop the train to Paris and all it has to offer, ou la la!
Bavaria with a bonus:
A great rail trip thru Bavarian Germany, from Cologne and along the Rhine river, down through the Black Forest to the original "Sleeping Beauty's" castle in Fussen, from there along the romantic road through beautiful small towns, some unchanged from medieval times and then on to Neuremburg to catch a train for Prague. It was Easter time and everywhere we went things were decorated for a celebration of spring.
Spain, Portugal and a taste of Morocco:
This was a great motorcoach trip, starting in Lisbon, Portugal and making our way through the wonders of Spain from the Alhambra palace to the Prado museum in Madrid and amazing Seville. Then we had a chance to visit, although briefly, exotic Morocco, the first country to recognize the United Sates as a country after the American Revolution and still a fast friend. Here was a chance to see a culture different from ours, and do some great shopping. I'm still in touch with some of the good friends I made on this trip, one of the added benefits of taking a group tour.
India's Golden Triangle:
A wonderful trip to exotic India, we traveled the "golden triangle" in central northern India from Deli to Jaipur to Agra. Colorful painted elephants, camels pulling carts and cobras coaxed from baskets by turbaned musicians, crazy bus drivers and whole families riding on a single moped. It was definetly a trip to remember. And getting to not only see but visit the Taj Mahal in person.......truely amazing!
The Azores:
The Azores, the Portuguese islands midway between the US east coast and the western coast of Europe. Nine picturesque and unique islands in the middle of the Atlantic with beautiful beaches, UNESCO heritage vineyards, volcanoes and rain forests. The islands are easily reachable by scheduled air service from the US and Portugal with daily island hopping too. And their location in the mid-Atlantic give them the benefit of mild temperatures year round and visitors enjoy the benefit of great seafood and prices a travel bargain hunter can truly love.
